COVID-19 One Million Deaths
Multiple Locations | September 2020

The worldwide death toll from the coronavirus has eclipsed 1 million, nine months into a crisis that has devastated the global economy, tested world leaders’ resolve, pitted science against politics and forced multitudes to change the way they live, learn and work.

The grim milestone - tallied by the Johns Hopkins University - comes as several European countries are seeing a new wave of recorded coronavirus infections, prompting many localized lockdowns and tightened restrictions.

The United States now has over 200-thousand recorded deaths, followed by Brazil, India, Mexico and the United Kingdom. China has confirmed over 85,000 cases of COVID-19 since the virus was detected in Wuhan late last year.
