Venice floods highest in 50 years
VENICE, ITALY

Venice has been flooded by the highest tide in 50 years. In some areas the tide was over 1.8 meters and transport is scarce. Gangways accessing buildings have been washed away and ground floors are flooded. Venice Mayor Luigi Brugnaro said he would declare a state of disaster for the city. The Italian Protezione Civile has temporarily closed access to the city as the situation develops.
