United Nations General Assembly
New York, USA | 21-29 September 2020

This year’s annual gathering of world leaders at U.N. headquarters in New York from Sept. 22-29 will be almost entirely “virtual.”

Leaders have been asked to pre-record their speeches which will be shown in the General Assembly chamber, where each of the 193 U.N. member nations will be allowed to have one diplomat present. U.N. spokesman Stephane Dujarric said Monday that so far no country has said it’s leader will speak in person.

The major topic at this year’s General Debate is expected to be the coronavirus pandemics, the shortcomings and inequalities it spotlighted and how to build a post-pandemic world.
