CANADA'S TRUDEAU SEEKS SECOND TERM

Justin Trudeau, battling low approval ratings, is seeking a second term as Canada's prime minister in the October 21 elections. Opinion polls are pointing to a tight race.
Trudeau’s Liberals are facing the opposition Conservatives. Neither party is currently polling high enough to gain a majority in the legislature. A minority government would be a serious blow for Trudeau, though it would give him the chance to keep governing.
The leading candidate to replace him is Conservative party leader Andrew Scheer. He has attacked Trudeau, calling him a phony and fraud who can't even recall how often he's worn blackface, a scandal that broke during the election campaign.
