HIGH-LEVEL VENEZUELA TALKS IN NEW YORK
NEW YORK, USA | 3 JUNE 2019

High-level representatives from the Lima Group regional bloc and and the International Contact Group will meet on Monday in New York City. The Lima Group supports the opposition in crisis-hit Venezuela and is demanding that President Nicolas Maduro resign.

The foreign ministers of Canada, Peru, and Chile, as well as Federica Mogherini, High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs, and foreign affairs ministers of Portugal and Uruguay, will participate.

The meeting comes a few days after representatives of the Venezuelan government and opposition met in Norway for unsuccessful talks aimed at resolving the political crisis.
