After a first round of debates in Miami, the large field of candidates for the Democratic nomination will head to Detroit, Michigan. The city's Fox Theatre will stage two nights of debates to be broadcast by CNN, July 30-31.

A majority of the over twenty Democratic candidates for the White House have already campaigned in Michigan, one of the states that Donald Trump won in 2016 and that brought him the presidency.

The Democratic National Committee will again allow up to 20 candidates on stage, all of whom either need to top at least 1% in three different polls, or raise money from at least 65,000 different donors.
