The United Nations will hold a security council meeting on Wednesday to address the humanitarian crisis in Venezuela.

US Vice President Mike Pence will address the meeting urging the council to reject President Maduro because of the “suffering he has brought” to the people of Venezuela.

The U.S. and about 50 other countries contend Maduro's election last year was illegitimate and support opposition leader Juan Guaido’s claim to the presidency.

The Associated Press will be operational with live positions at the United Nations.
