Mayor of Gdansk Pawel Adamowicz was stabbed on stage during the final of the Great Orchestra of Christmas Charity – Polish annual fundraiser. He is in very serious condition after undrgoing a 5 hour long life saving operation. According to the doctors the next hours will decide for the patient's recovery. Adamowicz has heart and internal organs wounds.

The press conference of the doctors of the health of Adamowicz is scheduled at 1200 local time. At the evening marches against the aggression in the public life are scheduled in the biggest cities of Poland.

The attacker, who entered the stage where Adamowicz was celebrating the final of the foundraiser, shouted from the stage that he was imprisoned under the government of the Civic Platform despite being innocent. After the stabbing, the man made an apparent gesture of triumph and strutted around the stage, media reported.
The knifeman was disarmed at the scene.
