Poland will mark the 75th anniversary of the Warsaw Ghetto Uprising, one of the most desperate acts of defiance to German occupation and the slaughter of Polish Jews. The main commemoration ceremony will take place by the Monument to the Ghetto Heroes in Warsaw. President of Poland Andrzej Duda will attend the ceremony.

Later that day a special concert will be performed. The musicians of the Polish National Radio Symphony Orchestra and the National Philharmonic Choir will perform the fourth part of the Symphony No. 9 of Beethoven in Hebrew. This way they will complete the plans of the Jewish Symphony Orchestra and the Shir Choir who in 1942 intended to play a concert in the Warsaw Ghetto in a protest against the Nazi barbarity, The concert never took place after in July 1942 almost all the artists of the Orchestra and Choir were deported from the ghetto and perished in the death camp of Treblinka.

On April 19, 1943, the residents of Warsaw's Jewish Ghetto began a nearly month-long fight against Nazi troops who raided the ghetto to deport them. Eventually, Nazi troops razed the ghetto, killing as many as 7,000 people and sending the remaining 50,000 survivors to extermination and labour camps.
