Thousands of chanting students, including survivors of the Florida school shooting that killed 17, rallied at the state Capitol on Wednesday, demanding changes to gun laws
The nationwide group March For Our Lives announced that the march on the nation's capital March 24 is to press their demands for safer schools and for legislation "to effectively address the gun violence issues that are rampant" nationwide.
The Oscar-winning actor George Clooney and his wife have pledged $500,000 to the demonstration. Billionaire media mogul Oprah Winfrey joined the cause, pledging to match the Clooneys' donation.
Depending on interest, The Associated Press will deploy a satellite truck and provide live standup positions at the march.

Survivors of the Parkland, Florida, school shooting that killed 17 will hold a massive rally in Washington, D.C to demand stricter laws on gun control. The march, which is expected to attract 500,000 people, is co-sponsored by the activist group Everytown for Gun Safety, and is being partially funded by celebrities like Oprah Winfrey and George Clooney. Sister rallies are being planned across the United States. The February 14th shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School has been flagged as a tipping point for action on lax gun laws across the United Sates.
