A general election is to take place in Italy. Voters will elect the 630 members of the Chamber of Deputies and the 315 elective members of the Senate. The election is due to be held no later than 20 May 2018.

Italians go to the polls on 4 March in a general election, with opinion polls suggesting an uncertain outcome for the European Union's fourth largest economy.
Pro- and anti-EU sentiment is expected to play a major role in swaying voter intentions in what is predicted to be a tight race.
Prime Minister Paolo Gentiloni's ruling centre-left Democratic Party will vie for votes with the populist Five Star Movement, while former Italian leader Silvio Berlusconi hopes to make a political comeback at the helm of a centre-right coalition which appears to be gaining support.
