A pipe bomb that was strapped to a man went off in the New York City subway near the Times Square area of Manhattan on Monday, injuring the suspect and another person on the platform at the height of the morning rush hour, law enforcement officials said. Details were still developing.

The Associated Press is deploying a Special News Operation near the scene. We’ll aim to set up near 8th avenue and west 42st street.

One person is in custody after a would-be suicide bomber set off a device at the Port Authority bus terminal, one of New York’s busiest areas near Times Square. The suspected bomber had wires attached to him and was armed with a pipe bomb and a battery pack, sources said. He was taken into custody after the device partially detonated inside the passageway to subway trains. Three people were reported injured.
