Wolfgang Schäuble is to attend his last session of the Eurogroup meeting today in Luxembourg.
The German finance minister is considered to have been the architect and one of the prime enforcers of Eurozone austerity.
The Eurogroup is an informal body where the ministers of the euro area member states discuss matters relating to their shared responsibilities related to the euro. Its main task is to ensure close coordination of economic policies among the euro area member states. It also aims to promote conditions for stronger economic growth. The Eurogroup usually meets once a month, they will meet on the 9th of October in Luxembourg. Today's agenda is to include:
Deepening the EMU: the role of the European Stability Mechanism.
Thematic discussions on growth and jobs: financing labour tax cuts.
Post-programme surveillance mission to Portugal, which concluded its three-year economic adjustment programme in summer 2014.
