An 8 year old girl, called Naiara, had died after sustained three hours of physical blows and been taken to hospital following a head trauma. She died after 24 hours of intensive care at Zaragoza hospital.

Ivan Pardo Peña, 33-years-old, has confessed to the murder of his brother’s stepdaughter, who died following three hours of ‘punishment for misbehaving’.

Investigators have said the victim was tied up and beaten with “extreme violence and sadism.”

According to the victim’s 12-year-old cousin, Pena would keep the girls locked up for hours at a time, made them study on their knees and beat them for behaving badly. Doctors noted that the girls had crusts and eroded cartilage on their knees, indicating that he had previously abused them.

The 33-year-old has been sent to prison without bail until sentencing.
