IOC EXECUTIVE BOARD MEETING ON CANDIDATURE PROCEDURE
LAUSANNE, SWITZERLAND
FRIDAY 09 JUNE 2017

The Executive Board (EB) of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) will meet this Friday 9 June in Lausanne. The remaining 2 candidate cities to host the 2024 summer Olympics, Los Angeles and Paris, should edge closer tomorrow to both getting Olympic hosting rights.

The Executive Board will receive and discuss two reports from the Working Group currently looking into the candidature procedure. This group is exploring how to make the candidature procedure more proactive, more collaborative and less expensive in the future.

The IOC has been considering the unprecedented awarding of two Summer Olympics at the same time this year in Lima in September: 2024 and 2028. It is expected to recommend IOC members open up the 2024 contest to also include the 2028 award in Peru. The expected agreement would fulfil IOC President Thomas Bach's wish to avoid making a loser of either candidate -Paris & Los Angeles-, though it must be ratified by the Olympic body's voting members.

If there is enough interest, EUROVISION Special Events can offer the following facilities onsite at the Olympic Museum:
