About 7,000 military personel are participating in a protest march in Brussels against the extension of the retirement age for the military. The Belgian government had decided to increase the retirement age from 56 to 63 years from the beginning of 2017, as well as introduce new career conditions.

The march comes on the King’s birthday, which is a day where the Belgian military staff are forbidden to hold strikes under the constitution.
