A cessation of hostilities is expected to begin in Syria following an announcement made by US Secretary of State John Kerry and his Russian counterpart, Sergei Lavrov. The Syrian government will end combat missions in specific areas held by the opposition, while Russia and the US will establish a joint centre to combat IS and al-Nusra terrorists.
