The German chancellor, Angela Merkel, is to host meetings in Berlin with the Latvian prime minister, Māris Kučinskis, the president of Lithuania, Dalia Grybauskaité, the prime minister of Malta, Joseph Muscat, the prime minister of Portugal, António Costa, and the president of Cyprus, Nicos Anastasiades. It comes in preparation for the informal meeting of the leaders on the future of the EU in Bratislava on 16 September
