The German government has been turning away more undocumented migrants at its borders. It has denied 13,324 migrants entry from January to June, which is nearly 50% more that the people it rejected in 2015. Most of the people who were turned back were from Afghanistan, followed by Syria, Iraq and Morocco, they failed to provide valid visas or residency permits.
The flow of asylum seekers into Germany has been slowing this year but it remains above the rate of a few years ago.
