After the Court of Arbitration for Sports (CAS) rejected the effort of 68 Russian track and field athletes to overturn the IAAF decision of the Olympic ban on Thursday (21st of July), the IOC is expected to announce their decision on Sunday.

The Russian Olympic Committee (ROC) lost its appeal against a blanket Olympic ban on its track and field athletes. The CAS decision piles pressure on the IOC to ban Russia completely from competing at Olympics starting in two weeks.
The IOC said in a statement that it had taken note of the CAS verdict. "We will now have to study and analyze the full decision," said an IOC spokesperson. "The IOC decision on the participation of the Russian athletes will be taken in the coming days."
