Nadiya Savchenko, an Ukrainian pilot, MP, who was jailed in Russia for nearly two years, received a prestigious Polish Jan Karski Eagle Award. According to the Polish Radio, Savchneko received the award for “brave spirit in the fight for human dignity and pride”. Polish diplomat Jan Karski established the award in 2000, shortly before his death.
