The world's most visited museum, the Louvre in Paris, is closed today so that staff can evacuate priceless artworks to safety amid worsening flooding.

Floodwaters in Paris are set to peak today with the River Seine due to reach 6m above its normal level. At least 11 people have died in the past week in Germany and France. Thousands have been forced to leave their homes.

More downpours are forecast through the weekend across central Europe from France to Ukraine.
