First Italy-Africa Ministerial conference to take place in Rome

Rome - May 18, 2016

On May 18, The Italian Foreign Ministry will host the First Italy-Africa Ministerial Conference that will unite Ministers from 45 African Countries, their Permanent Representatives to the United Nations in New York and the top representatives of around 15 International and Regional Organisations of the UN System.

The themes of the conference will be Economic and Socio-environmental sustainability, Peace and security of the migration phenomenon.

Among the speakers will be the Italian Prime Minister Matteo Renzi, the Italian Foreign Minister Paolo Gentiloni, together with President of the African Union Commission, Dlamini Zuma; AU Commissioner for Peace and Security Smail Chergui and AU Commissioner for Energy, Elaham Ibrahim. Leaders of U.N Agencies UNHCR, WFP, IOM, FAO will also address the audience.
