Top officials of a world powers group will meet next week in Vienna, Secretary of State John Kerry confirmed on Tuesday. The International Syria Support Group is expected to meet on May 17. This will be the first meeting since February, when the same group of officials managed to arrange a cease-fire.

INTERNATIONAL SYRIA SUPPORT GROUP MEETING
VIENNA, AUSTRIA
17 MAY 2016

The International Syria Support Group (ISSG) is meeting on 17 May in Vienna at the Palais Niederösterreich to discuss the crisis in Syria.

U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry arrived already on Monday the 16th to attend a conference on Libya organised by Italy and the United States.

A recent surge in fighting in Aleppo, Syria's largest city and commercial hub before the war, has threatened the partial truce sponsored by Washington and Moscow that had allowed U.N.-brokered peace talks to convene in Geneva.
The ISSG is made up of 17 countries and organisations including the United Nations, but excluding parties from inside Syria. It has held a number of meetings as part of the most concerted international peace drive yet on Syria.
