KIEV, UKRAINE 12-14 APRIL 2016 Two of Ukraine's largest political parties agreed on appointing parliament speaker Volodymyr Groysman as prime minister on Wednesday. Mr. Groysman is expected to be officially voted as PM on Thursday. Current Ukrainian Prime Minister Arseniy Yatsenyuk announced his resignation last Saturday, blaming Ukrainian politicians’ failure to enact ‘real changes’. A vote had previously been postponed on Tuesday after Ukrainian lawmakers failed to agree on the forming of a new government. Mr. Yatsenyuk came to power after the 2014 revolution against then president Viktor Yanukovitch and had promised to battle corruption and bring about economic reforms. Recently, however, he had increasingly become the focus of accusations of corruption. His resignation comes two months after his government narrowly survived a vote of no-confidence in the Verkhovna Rada, Ukraine's parliament.
