12 APRIL 2016

Ukrainian Prime Minister Arseniy Yatsenyuk is expected to submit his official resignation to Ukraine’s Parliament, the Verkhovna Rada, on Tuesday, 12 April 2016. Yatsenyuk announced his resignation on Sunday, blaming Ukrainian politicians’ failure to enact ‘real changes’.

Mr. Yatsenyuk came to power after the 2014 revolution against then president Viktor Yanukovitch and had promised to battle corruption and bring about economic reforms. Recently, however, he had increasingly become the focus of accusations of corruption.

His resignation comes two months after his government narrowly survived a vote of no-confidence in the Verkhovna Rada.
