On Wednesday April 27th 2016 after a tour around Greece, the Olympic Flame Handover Ceremony will take place in Panathenaic Stadium.
From the home of the first modern Olympics in 1896, the sacred flame will be delivered to the Brazilian delegation of Rio 2016 Olympic Games.

After a tour around Greece , the torch is handed over to Rio 2016 organisers on 27 April.

The Olympic flame will visit 83 cities, including the 26 state capitals, and will pass through around 500 towns, Approximately 12,000 torchbearers will carry the torch for roughly 200 metres each. The relay will conclude on 5 August when the last torchbearer will light the Olympic cauldron during the Rio 2016 Opening Ceremony at the Maracanã Stadium.
