FIFA announced that an extraordinary meeting of its executive committee would meet in Zurich on October 20 to discuss the corruption crisis which has engulfed the governing body.

Rocked by the biggest crisis in its 111-year history, world football’s governing body FIFA said it would hold an extraordinary executive committee (ExCo) meeting on October 20. The announcement came after FIFA President Sepp Blatter and his vice-president - UEFA President Michel Platini - were suspended for 90 days by FIFA’s Ethics Committee. The ExCo had not been due to meet until December. The deadline for submitting all cadidates’ nominations is October 26 with favourite Platini’s application for the top job now under threat.
