Zurich, Switzerland, 19-20 March 2015 The FIFA Executive Committee will meet at the federation’s headquarters in Zurich from the 19th to the 20th of March 2015, with the dates for the 2022 World Cup in Qatar due to be confirmed. The host country for the 2019 Women’s World Cup is also expected to be announced, as are set to be published, the finance reports for the 2014 World Cup in Brazil. The dates for the 2022 World Cup in Qatar have stirred much debate, with FIFA President, Sepp Blatter, having publically recommended that the tournament be moved to the winter, giving for reason the unsuitable regional heat in the summer months. While not officially established, this decision is expected to be received with controversy for a number of reasons, namely the interference with various domestic leagues around the world, as well as other tournaments such as the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations, or even, the 2022 Winter Olympic Games. FIFA has suggested shortening the tournament to 28 days, from the traditional 32, and although the exact dates remain unconfirmed, President Blatter has proposed that the tournament final be played on Qatar’s national day, the 18th of December, despite the Federation’s European Branch, UEFA, having itself recommended the 23rd of December.
