A meeting of eurozone finance ministers last week, which aimed to establish some points of agreement between Greece’s new anti-austerity government and the country’s eurozone creditors, ended in abrupt failure after Athens moved late in the evening to kill off any semblance of an agreement.

Brussels, Belgium - 16 February 2015

Eurogroup finance ministers will meet in Brussels today to continue the discussion on the situation in Greece, considering the upcoming expiry of Greece's current economic adjusment programme.

Without a compromise on a new support program, Greece could run out of money as early as next month since its €240 billion bailout package expires on 28 February.

The ministers will also discuss the economic situation in the euro area and will look into the European Commission's winter forecast, which was published on 5 February 2015. They will speak about Portugal's plans for early repayment of a part of the financial assistance received from the International Monetary Fund.
