Grossetto, Italy - From 10-11 February 2015
An Italian tribunal is expected to rule on the Costa Concordia cruise ship disaster trial, which sees former captain Francesco Schettino stand accused of manslaughter for the death of 32 people after the Costa Concordia cruise liner ran aground off the Giglio Island, just off the coast of Tuscany.
Prosecutors have accumulated some 50,000 pages of documents after having interviewed almost 200 people of the approx. 4,000 passengers travelling on the vessel as part of a 2 year trial. Prosecutors are asking the judges to sentence the captain to some 26 years of prison.
The verdict is expected starting from 11 February.
