Washington, DC, USA, February 9th 2015

President Obama will host German Chancellor Angela Merkel at the White House on Monday, February 9th. The two leaders will have a meeting in the Oval Office followed by a working lunch and are expected to discuss a range of issues including Ukraine, Russia, counterterrorism, ISIL, Afghanistan, and Iran. They will also cover economic growth, international trade, climate change and Germany’s plans for hosting the G-7 Summit in June. The U.S. is still repairing its relationship with the German leader following Edward Snowden’s NSA leaks which alleged that the agency monitored Merkel’s phone for as long as ten years.
