AFP is seeking an experienced Anglophone or Francophone Arabic-speaking television professional to work on its video desk in Nicosia.
Fast-paced and exciting, the job involves editing news video reports and feature packages from the Middle East and North Africa, and contributing to an international, multilingual team. Daily work involves editing live feeds and news footage from correspondents in the region, sourcing UGC and videos from external providers, help adapt videos into English and French and compiling voiced reports on a wide range of issues, as well as archives, files and stockshots. It requires savvy editing, writing and narration skills for short-format videos.

It is important to stress that all AFP journalists contribute to AFP’s newsgathering process in all formats, working for the common goal of reacting and high quality multimedia journalism.

LIFE IN NICOSIA

Nicosia is a pleasant place to live. Apartments and houses are generously proportioned and easily available within a short drive or walk to the office. There are several international schools, including French, which cater for children from infants to high school students.
The climate is sunny throughout the year, with mild winters. Temperatures in July and August often exceed 40 degrees Celsius.
Public transport is poor and a car or a motorcycle is a necessity.
Not by any means a cultural oasis by comparison with other European capitals, Cyprus is however an excellent place to enjoy the outdoors, and national parks, mountains and the eastern Mediterranean are easily reachable.
