Associated Press seeks a dynamic Senior Vice President and Executive Editor to lead its global news operation and its diverse and talented team of journalists working across all media formats in more than 200 locations across the world, down to the state and regional level in the United States. The executive editor will build on AP's reputation as the world's leading independent, fact-based news organization that reports fairly and honestly, without political orientation. This position will report to the Chief Executive Officer and will be based at AP headquarters in New York, NY.

The executive editor sets the direction and priorities for the overall news report and guides editorial leadership across AP’s vast domestic and international network. Directing a team of senior news leaders, the executive editor leads, motivates and supports AP’s brave and award-winning journalists, who gather and produce news across all formats – text, video, photos, audio, data and graphics. Internally, the executive editor is part of the AP senior management team and collaborates across all AP departments on strategy and operations. Externally, as an industry leader, AP’s executive editor is a staunch defender of press freedoms around the world and advocates publicly in that regard on behalf of AP and other news organizations.
