Core Functions / Responsibilities:
1. Implement IOM Office to the UN’s strategic communications and outreach strategy in line with IOM’s strategic priorities on media and communications.

2. Assist in enhancing IOM’s relationship with the UN communications pillar at UNHQ in NY by liaising regularly with the Department of Global Communications (DGC), media counterparts of other departments and offices at the UN Secretariat as well as UN Agencies to check and encourage if the UN’s overall communication activities are complemented by the inclusion and integration of migration related issues and migrant voices/stories in the UN messaging and products on the different multilingual platforms.

3. Liaise with media counterparts at UN entities, UN Member States Missions, and
non-governmental organizations based in NY, as well as other stakeholder counterparts on media and communications issues to communicate IOM’s core priorities.

4. Coordinate IOM’s role in the “PLURAL+ Youth Video Festival” project with the United Nations Alliance of Civilizations (UNAOC). Co-supervise and co-organize all the aspects related to the festival including maintaining relationships with PLURAL+ partners, highlighting the annual multilingual call for entries on various platforms to facilitate global representation, recommending the selection of international jury members to help IOM and UNAOC choose the winning videos. Help in coordinating all the activities relating to the Annual Awards Ceremony including coordinating with IOM, UNAOC, DGC, PLURAL+ winners, partners, and jury’s
participation in the Ceremony as well as the distribution of PLURAL+ awards. Monitor status of the project, compile, summarize and provide basic information/data on activities on a regular basis.

5. Collaborate closely with the IOM’s Media and Communications Division (MCD) and other media focal points at IOM HQ departments to facilitate visibility of IOM’s work, purpose, and priorities as well as migration and migrants as a central issue to UN fora, including the General Assembly, the Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC), the Security Council and other multilateral platforms.

6. Participate in informing MCD on UN system-wide communications planning, campaigns, initiatives discussed at the various UN communications group meetings and crisis
communications cells to facilitate information flow, identify potential visibility opportunities for IOM and suggest to management and MCD appropriate action/responses.

7. Work on the timely and efficient publication and distribution of media content on the IOM Office to the UN website as well as the Office and PLURAL+ social media channels.

8. Disseminate approved media related products (statements, speeches, updates, etc) issued by the UN of relevance to IOM to the Office to the UN, MCD as well other IOM regional and country Offices and departments as appropriate.

9. Draft and exhibit media content and products that showcases IOM key messages at external events in UN HQ and beyond.

10. Perform other duties as assigned.
