The Senior Broadcast Facilities Planner is responsible for coordinating the requests from news and programmes for ENG and SNG crews and arranging the deployment of staff and equipment to field locations for news and programme making.

Key Responsibilities:
- Communicate with the Bureau, Broadcast Centers and other production areas to coordinate the flow of incoming news footage
- Coordinate effectively with operators in the field and to support newsgathering operations via satellite, fibre, FTP, IP, and Inmarsat networks
- Maintain accurate records of bookings and to track daily operating costs
- Lead the operation of the company scheduling/booking system to ensure the system becomes and remains an asset to all operational and editorial departments
- Maintain effective relationships with key vendors used in the provision of newsgathering
- Provide technical coordination of complex transmission routes as required
- Roster and manage the camera operators, editors & satellite desk coordinators
- Maintains a close relationship with the news planning desk in order to shape the operational planning of forthcoming assignments.
- Define and determine newsgathering requirements, and communicate comprehensive instructions to global news, planning and satellite desks
- Book and organize outside facilities such as SNGs, live positions, feed‐points, studios, crews etc.
- Provide the sat‐desk with information and supporting in breaking news situations and on demand
- Liaise with studio and camera operations in the conception of large‐scale production projects and find locations for Programmes
- Maintain detailed logs of planned assignments through the newsroom systems
- Manage, plan and control budgets, for PAYE & Gross freelancer staff & for large planned news events
- Maintain effective relationships with key vendors used in the provision of newsgathering
- Manage crews and deployments, take responsibility for kit maintenance and repairs
- Work with field producers and cameramen on newsgathering ops planning issues
- Ensure access to good team of freelancers across Europe who are up to date with Al Jazeera kit and operational practices
- Liaise with other bureaus and provide assistance and advice re extra crew/kit during busy times
- Manage edit team and freelancers
- Liaise with News Coordinator on health and safety in the field issues
- Work with Travel Coordinator on accommodation and travel issues
- Arrange visas and accreditation for crew
