The Associated Press seeks a talented video journalist and newsroom leader to work as a senior producer for Japan, based in Tokyo.

Responsibilities: Reporting to the news director for Japan, Koreas, Australia and the South Pacific, this senior producer will oversee the video report and staff and freelance video journalists who work in Japan to craft a video news report that is rich in exclusive spot news, compelling live video and distinct, deeply reported enterprise. The successful candidate will be part of a dynamic operation in Japan and will be comfortable working across media formats, working closely with text reporters and photo journalists, and at times directing overall all-formats coverage, to serve AP's wide-ranging set of customers in Japan and across the globe. This senior producer will aggressively plan for both upcoming events and unexpected breaking news, nurture relationships with Japanese broadcasters and other partners, search for new and unique ways to promote the best of AP’s video on social platforms, and will lead discussions about how to best optimize video presentation on AP’s curated content distribution platforms and when to promote video-driven projects and storytelling. This senior producer must have the ability and willingness to work at night and on weekends, as coverage demands, as AP is a 24/7 operation.
