Mobilelinks acquires 2 SAT Europe, strengthening its satellite newsgathering business

Stockholm, May 2024: The broadcast services company Mobilelinks - which has a pan-European fiber network as well as a satellite newsgathering operation - has announced the purchase of Netherlands-based 2 SAT Europe in order to expand its SNG facilities.

Mobilelinks SNG satellite truck.
After the merger of the two entities, the company will operate a total of 15 SNG trucks and have a pan-European fiber network with connections to North America. Mobilelinks' fiber capacity into the Netherlands will be increased and connected with multiple 100G connections to its core Nimbra network infrastructure.

Having a fleet of SNG trucks based in Western Europe means shorter distance of travel to cover many events in the company's strive to become a greener operator.

Several of the top tier leagues and events are transported over the company's network. This includes premier football and ice hockey leagues, e-sports, as well as some of the largest entertainment shows and world championship coverage of sports.

Andreas Langell, CEO of Mobilelinks, said, "It’s been a fantastic expansion of our network and a true honour to experience this huge trust from our clients."

2 SAT's Marco van den Top said, "We have a long history of cooperation, and we now see that this merger would create the possibility to make investments to support our clients’ inputs."

The company said it would keep its promise to the market to deliver the best possible media connectivity. The merger will enable even more investments in the contribution segment, both for satellite and fiber connectivity. /
