Responsibilities

Reuters Television is looking for a multi-skilled video journalist for the Tokyo bureau.

The successful candidate will be part of high-profile, high-performance team responsible for covering one of the most vibrant, influential and quirky countries on the planet. You will be expected to turn you hand to everything from earthquakes and typhoons to Machiavellian politics, a G7 economy and some of the most innovative and influential companies in the world; not forgetting showbiz, sports and a seemingly endless supply cute, quirky and just plain weird.

In addition to strong English language and scripting abilities, we need someone able to speak, read and write Japanese to a level he or she can work independently and deal with Japanese clients and sources.

The successful candidate should also be able to shoot and edit their own material. The ability to write and voice broadcast packages and experience in front of camera would be an advantage. Computer literacy is essential, as is a familiarity with filing material from the field - both SNG and store'n'forward.

Working closely with television team as well as colleagues in Text, Pictures, Graphics and Online, the producer will be responsible for planning, co-coordinating and covering news and feature stories for a diverse range of clients. He or she will need to be a proven self-starter with excellent communication skills, an unflappable temperament and a demonstrable passion for news gathering and visual story telling.
The successful candidate must have a global perspective to go with their intimate knowledge of the Japan story and they need to be flexible enough to deal with a fast-moving business which can involve unsociable hours and the need to travel at short notice.

Essential Responsibilities:

• Draft concept and storyboard to illustrate the creative solution.
• Undertake scripting, production, directing and editing.
• Direct location shoots and camera crews.

• Production support for CNBC events including bartered event and media deals.

Qualifications/Requirements:

• Proficiency in Avid edit suite, Adobe Photoshop and AfterEffects.
• Ability to digest marketing briefs and identify cuts through creative solutions.
• 3 – 5 years experience
• Prior experience in production of short form videos from concept to completion.
• Experience in television (preferred) journalism advertising or other media.
• Strong written interpersonal and organizational skills.
• Ability to work independently and meet project goals and to deliver results.
• Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines; hands-on.
• Ability to prioritize workload.
• Proven script-writing skills.
• Fluent in English additional languages particularly mandarin fluency would be an advantage.
• Computer literate MS office and beyond.

Role Summary/Purpose:
This role will be responsible for shaping the overall Marketing and PR Strategy and Execution of Universal Networks South Asia Channels. Aside from leading the site’s Marketing and PR efforts, he/she will work on projects that helps extend and broaden the NBC Universal brand in providing new partnership opportunities for our sales teams.

Essential Responsibilities:
• Develop marketing plans and strategies that contribute to the growth and brand awareness for NBC Universal Networks in SEA
• Develop marketing plans and strategies that contribute to the growth of advertising sales for NBC Universal Networks in SEA
• Develop the marketing budget to support agreed strategy and manage the budget throughout the year. Oversee project budgets as relevant, including sourcing competitive quotes, negotiating media buys, and advertising budgets.
• Manage relationships with a range of key stakeholders, e.g. customers, marketing colleagues, affiliate marketing teams and media agencies. Contribute to existing commercial relationships with advertising sales team and potential clients.
• Manage agency relationships with media, online, promotional, merchandising and research agencies. Develop briefs for, and manage agency implementation of activities where required
• Oversee the day to day management and operations of the marketing, PR & digital teams.
• Work in collaboration with the Programme Director, to communicate and maximize the Uni Channels key monthly programme priorities
• Oversee creation and implementation of sales collateral’s for the sales team.
• Work with the Creative Director to oversee the production of marketing materials, including advertising, website, promotional items, other leaflets, posters, flyers, and DVDs.
• Organise advertising, talent events, subscriber promotions and competitions and sales incentives - that respond to briefs and budgets.
• Support and manage the marketing and on-ground implementation of local productions, including managing 3rd party contractors and suppliers.
• Ensure that all required legal obligations relevant to marketing activities are met, including permit regulations and copyright restrictions and approvals
• Ensure websites and social media sites are relevant, up-to-date and reflect current marketing activity. Undertake activities to maximise traffic to websites and build viewer relationships.
• Evaluating marketing campaigns and Oversee sourcing and production of channel premiums
• Monitoring competitor activities.

Qualifications/Requirements:
• At least 10 years experience in a broadly based marketing management role, including accountability for budget and planning
• Must be a strategic thinker
• Direct team management experience of at least 5 years.
• Experience managing media buying and negotiating with external agencies/partners
• Online and/or digital media experience. Knowledge of marketing channels for on-line & digital is essential.
• Ability to understand, interpret and action television ratings, research and performance data such as advertising campaign results
• Experience in organizing & hosting high profile events and functions.
• Confident and ability to conduct presentations to large audiences
• Proficient in Microsoft applications especially Word, Powerpoint and Excel. Photoshop and CMS knowledge an advantage.

Specific duties & responsibilities
  • Oversee the production of news and/or feature programs.
  • Lead and develop overall presentation of on-air look, graphic packages etc.
  • Manage complex/important events on production
