Background:

Internews® Network is an international media development organization based in Arcata, CA and Washington, DC whose mission is to empower local media worldwide to give people the news and information they need, the ability to connect, and the means to make their voices heard.
General Function:

The Regional Director establishes the strategic vision for and manages the Internews projects and offices of the Middle East and North Africa region. The Regional Director is responsible for ensuring all program management, development, communications and finance and administrative functions of Internews’ work are carried out effectively in his/her region.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Strategic Planning

* Develop and maintain a keen understanding of the challenges and issues facing effective media and communications in the MENA region. Cultivate relationships with local and international partners and stay abreast of developments in the media and ICT sectors across the region.
* Prepare, on an annual basis, workplans for development, communications, program management and administration and finance in the region.

Program Management

* Ensure all projects in the MENA region are meeting their goals and targets; recommend and negotiate program adjustments when necessary to keep projects on track.
* Ensure all projects produce timely and high-quality programmatic reports for funders.
* Working with HR, recruit and supervise project management staff (Country Directors, Project Directors or Chiefs of Party) in the MENA region. Ensure that each project office establishes personnel policies that best replicate Internews Network policies in the local context.
* Facilitate the sharing of information, lessons learned and approaches between projects in the region.

Finance and Administration (20% time: direct to projects)

* Ensure all projects are in compliance with all grant and cooperative agreement rules, requirements and regulations.
* Schedule necessary training for all project managers on USAID Rules and Regulations as well, and in-country training of staff necessary.
* Serve as the primary budget authority over all projects in the region.

Communications and Policy Advocacy (5% time: indirect)

* Working through the DC-based communications team, engage with communication with the public and news media on program activities and accomplishments.
* Represent Internews at conferences and public events concerning media and ICT in the MENA region.
* Seek opportunities to advocate for policy reform or international attention on challenges facing media and ICT.

Business Development and Refunding

* Establish and cultivate funder relationships for the MENA region.
* Plan and prepare both competitive bids and unsolicited proposal for the MENA region.
* Work closely with Internews policy and development staff to ensure new project ideas are consistent with broader Internews priorities.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

Manage and supervise Country Directors, Project Directors and COPs for all projects in the region. Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; addressing complaints and resolving problems.


QUALIFICATIONS:

* 10+ years experience in international development, media, and/or nonprofit fields
* Previous professional work experience in the Middle East.
* Prior experience with fundraising, proposal and business plan writing.
* US government grants management experience.
* Excellent critical thinking, writing, communications skills.
* Strong budgeting and financial management skills.
* Strong staff management and organizational skills.
* Proven ability to manage multiple, ongoing obligations and assignments.
* Willingness to travel frequently.
* Relevant university degree required; advanced degree highly desirable.
* Arabic language fluency is highly desirable.

The Role

Purpose of position:

The response to the 12 January Haiti earthquake is one of the largest operations in the history of the Red Cross Red Crescent. As well as focusing on external communications, the IFRC delegation has also developed a robust and innovative beneficiary communications programme, ensuring that information about threats and Red Cross Red Crescent programmes are made available to earthquake survivors, and providing beneficiaries with a way to communicate about the challenges and frustrations that they face. Working as part of the Communications Unit, the Audio-Visual delegate is responsible for managing the production of all audio visual content for both beneficiary communications and external communication activities, and for managing all audio-visual equipment and assets.

Description of Duties:

1. Managing audio-visual equipment: Working closely with the communications coordinator and the beneficiary communications delegate, ensure the maintenance and tracking of all AV assets in country.
2. Production of video, photography, etc for external use: Responsible for the pre-production, production and post-production of all AV materials in Haiti and production and dissemination of photographs and video products to external audiences. This includes acting as videographer and photographer as necessary.
3. Under the direction of the beneficiary communications delegate, assist with the planning, pre-production, production and post-production of 15 minutes of live and/or pre-recorded television each week to be broadcast on a local TV network. This will include liaising with local TV to arrange live debates and outside broadcasts.
4. Editing: Edit all material for use on TV and radio (in collaboration with the beneficiary communications producer) and public media outlets in formats that are suitable for specific audiences. This includes input to the weekly ½ hour to 1 hour live radio show broadcast by the Red Cross, which features interviews, talkback and outside broadcasts. Knowledge of Final Cut Pro, Photoshop and Lightroom softwares is required.
5. Produce, edit and source photography for: monthly newspaper distributed to earthquake affected communities, internal publications, IFRC website, media, etc.
6. Train local staff involved in the beneficiary communications project helping them develop skills across all the audiovisual mediums from producing material to editing.
7. Distribution: In coordination wit the IFRC's AV Units in Geneva and the Zone, upload material to IFRC audio-visual outlets (Cumulus, FTP server, YouTube channel).
8. Archiving: In coordination with the IFRC's AV Units in Geneva and the Zone, create and maintain a comprehensive archiving system for all videos, audio, and photographic material.
9. Relationships: Manage technical relationships between the IFRC and radio/TV stations and AV service providers.
10. Social Media: assist in developing materials for social media outlets including Facebook and Twitter
11. Innovation: Initiate the development of services and tools that enhance communication and advocacy achievements.
12. Capacity building: Work closely with the Haitian Red Cross communications team, ensuring a systematic transfer of skills
13. Provide audio-visual support/guidance to National Societies operating in Haiti.

BACKGROUND:
Internews is an international media assistance organisation whose mission is to empower people worldwide with the news and information they need, the ability to connect, and the means to make their voices heard.
In the past years, in addition to its activities in media development, Internews Europe has increased its activities involving public outreach and communication through events that had a global reach such as the Every Human Has Rights Media Awards, the Earth Journalism Awards, exhibitions such as the Voice of Darfur and a strong involvement in coordinating information flows between humanitarian agencies and disaster affected communities.
We are looking for a dynamic, multi-talented, experienced and dedicated Communications Specialist to take the responsibility for Internews Europe’s general communication strategy and implementation.


GENERAL FUNCTION:
The Communications Specialist is responsible for communicating efficiently on ongoing programmes, ensuring relationships with the press in Europe and beyond, and for the coordination of all aspects of Internews Europe’s future public facing events for 2010/11.
Under the supervision of IEU’s Development Director, the Communications Specialist will also participate in refining the general communication strategy, and create or coordinate the production of communications pieces for a variety of readers/viewers. A proven ability to design, and coordinate the production of materials in various formats – text, sound, video, interactive – is necessary.
The position requires significant experience in communication with the general public and the press about development and humanitarian programs, a deep understanding of media ecosystems, as well as experience in managing teams of creative and technicians on high visibility projects such as exhibitions, websites and multimedia communication material. It also requires the capacity to travel for a couple of weeks each month, within Europe and possibly to the field.
A track record in the domain of conveying complex material in an elegant and effective manner as well as designing compelling and educative experiences for a variety of audiences will be key.
Previous experience with projects in international, multi-cultural environments, in developing countries or with NGOs a huge plus. Interpersonal skills and the capacity to communicate with creative and technical personnel is very important. An existing international network of press contacts, communication and cultural production professional will be a huge plus as well.

Role:

Bloomberg Television requires experienced Broadcast Engineers to work within a busy support team operating within the EMEA TV engineering team.

The individuals should be experienced performing pre show checks, working with Operations staff to prepare the studio and gallery for daily live launch.
The engineer must be a proactive self starter and be able to work independently in high pressure situations and posses strong trouble shooting and project skills.

Requirements:

Qualified candidates should be experienced in Studio / Gallery / Newsroom and Transmission support, including:

- Camera¿s and robotics: Ikegami, Sony, Panasonic, Radamec.
- Lighting systems: Dimmers, DMX.
- Vision and Audio Mixers: Snell & Wilcox, Calrec.
- Editing, Ingest and Playout systems: Adobe Premier, Final Cut, Grass Valley, ENPS.
- Encoding / De-coding techniques: Cisco, Tandberg, Harris.
- Streaming and Compression: MPEG2, H.264/MPEG4.
- Large video routers, Talkback systems: Probel / RTS Telex.
- Network and IT: LAN, WAN, TCP/IP, good PC and server knowledge of Clusters, NAS, SAN, Cisco, HP, Desktop and Operating systems, etc.
- Infrastructure: Understand system diagrams, CAD / Visio and have hands on experience of all cable / cabinet management used in the broadcast arena.

This is mainly an Out of Hours role involving, nights and early mornings.

The Role
Bloomberg TV is searching for Headline Writer/Editors in our Chile office. Headline Writer/Editors are responsible for all words in the lower part of the TV screen.

The role has two main parts to it:
1) Keeping up with breaking news and writing it for a TV audience

Afghanistan, kabul: Trainer - TV Journalism and Current Affairs

Background:

Internews® Network is an international non-profit organization working to improve access to information for people around the world by fostering independent media and promoting open communications policies. Internews' programs are built on the conviction that providing people with access to vibrant, diverse news and information empowers them to make their voices heard and to participate effectively in their communities. Since 2002, Internews has built a network of 42 local, independently-operated radio stations throughout Afghanistan and trained local journalists - women and men - to report in their communities.
General Function:

Internews Network is currently seeking journalism training advisors to work in Kabul, Afghanistan. The selected candidates will be responsible for training and mentoring in TV journalism skills, journalism and programming for journalists and current affairs programming in the catchment area.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

* Provide general oversight of the program; responsible for program management, strategic
* Works closely with Nai, Supporting Open Media in Afghanistan to develop curriculum
* Works with journalists and TV stations to review and develop skills and assist in implementation of programming changes
* Works with provincial media to implement specialist elections, youth and community development projects
* In coordination with Nai, contributes to the preparation of a training plan
* Prepares courses, trains and coaches national trainers to deliver courses
* Delivers trainings
* Prepares and assembles materials for monthly and quarterly reports, in compliance with donor and Country Director guidelines

QUALIFICATIONS:

* Broadcast journalism, and information program experience
* Experience training in a developing media environment
* Course design experience
* Experience living and working in a developing country desired
* Ability to handle multi-faceted programs with staff and partner organizations
* Sensitivity to cross-cultural dynamics in the work place.
* Qualification in a relevant field

Operations Co-ordinator
London-based

SNG Broadcast Services requires an operations co-ordinator with some relevant experience to join a small team committed to delivering quality service to our diverse client base, providing television and satellite solutions to broadcasters and corporate clients on a global basis.

This is a largely administrative role and the successful candidate will be required to carry out a wide range of admin/operational tasks, including client liaison, preparing quotations and invoices, booking tv equipment, satellite space, hotels, crews etc as well as general office systems management. The position requires a team player with a calm head, a sense of humour and the ability to multi task. It also requires flexibility and some out of hours work.

An interest in news and current affairs would be useful; a UK work permit and London location are essential.

CCTV NEWS has job vacancies for full-time writer/copy editor(s). Writer/copy editor(s) should polish scripts written by non-native speakers, write news headlines and provide professional linguistic support. Writer/copy editor(s) are also required to produce their own TV reports, from writing scripts to video-editing and voicing the final product.
Applicants should be native English speakers with at least BA degrees, and with some work experience in the industry. Candidates with good knowledge in TV production preferred.
