Tokyo, Japan: Senior Multimedia Journalist - Thomson Reuters

Job Vacancy:
Senior Multimedia Journalist - Thomson Reuters

Tokyo, Japan

Reuters is looking for a Senior Multimedia Journalist to run our video team in Japan.

The successful candidate will lead a high-profile, high-performing team responsible for covering one of the most vibrant and influential regions on the planet.

You must have significant experience in video and a thorough understanding of, and preferably experience in, other visual story telling formats.

You will lead and develop a team that will cover the full range of news - from natural disasters and business, through politics to sport, lifestyle and entertainment.

You must be as comfortable with covering big breaking news as insightful stories that showcase the human face of Japan. Tokyo is also preparing for the 2019 Rugby World Cup and the 2020 Tokyo Summer Olympics, so an interest in sport and spectacle is desirable.

You will know what makes a good multimedia package, and understand the technology behind news video, photography and digital platforms.

At times you will be required to lead the Multimedia team and file from Japan.

The successful candidate must have a global perspective to go with their intimate knowledge of the stories in Japan and the Asia region. They need to be flexible enough to deal with a fast-moving business which can involve unsociable hours and the need to travel at short notice.

You will be a proven self-starter with excellent communication skills, an unflappable temperament and a demonstrable passion for news gathering and visual storytelling.

As well as managing and mentoring teams in Tokyo, you will be responsible for our relationship with our broadcast and digital clients in Japan.

You will be expected to travel on foreign assignments on occasion.
