Rhinebeck, New York, USA, 31 July 2010
Former first daughter Chelsea Clinton plans to tie the knot with fiance Marc Mezvinsky. According to The Associated Press, Clinton will get married July 31 at Astor Courts in Rhinebeck.
Rhinebeck Village Mayor James Reardon said Thursday that he had not received any confirmation that the wedding is occurring, and has not heard from the Secret Service, which provides protection for Bill and Hillary Rodham Clinton. Reardon said he is concerned that such a high-profile event could create a "crush of people and media" in the village, as well as logistical problems for emergency vehicles, should they be called on in a crisis.
And as the logistics unfold, the buzz continues to build…
President Barack Obama, Oprah Winfrey, Barbara Streisand and Steven Spielberg are among the guests invited to Chelsea Clinton’s wedding, according to several news reports. Among the other celebrities who could be among the 500 people expected at the July 31 event are Ted Turner and former British Prime Minister John Major.
Chelsea is the daughter of former President Bill Clinton and Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton. Mezvinsky is an investment banker in New York City. They became engaged in November 2009.
