The funeral of Mayor of Gdansk Pawel Adamowicz will take place on Saturday, January 19. His body will be laid to rest at the Basilica of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary, a centuries-old Roman Catholic church. On Thursday his coffin will be put for a public display for the residents to pay their last respects. The day of Adamowicz’s funeral will be a national day of mourning.

Pawel Adamowicz died after a knife attack during a charity event in Gdansk Sunday night. He sustained a wound to the heart, a diaphragm injury and multiple abdominal wounds.
