Russian President Putin to visit Austria on 5 June.

The visit is set loosely to coincide with the 50th anniversary of agas supply agreement between Austria and the then Soviet Union. The meetings take place against the background of recent worsening relations between Russia and the EU, though Austria was one of a minority of European countries which did not expel Russian diplomats in the wake of the Salisbury poison attacks. Austrian President Van der Bellen's spokesman said that Austria wants to retain a dialogue with Russia but that "On relevant issues, Austria will stick to the EU line."
