President of Israel Reuven Rivlin will come to Poland to join the annual International March of the Living at the former Nazi camp Auschwitz. He will join Polish president Andrzej Duda and they will walk a three-kilometre-long route from the brick barracks of the former Nazi German concentration camp of Auschwitz to the crematoria of Birkenau.

The visit was announces by the Polish Minister of Foreign Affairs Jacek Czaputowicz during his address in Polish parliament.

This year's march will be taking place in a tense atmosphere between Poland and Israel. Due to the new legislation that would make it illegal to suggest Poland bore any responsibility for Nazi atrocities committed on its soil "against facts", Poland is higly criticised by the state of Israel as well by the United States.

Over 1.1 million people, mostly European Jews, but also Poles, Roma and Soviet, were murdered by Nazi Germans at Auschwitz-Birkenau during World War II.
