MLADIC RULING
THE HAGUE, NETHERLANDS
22 NOVEMBER, 2017

A verdict in one of the most closely watched war crimes cases in recent history — the genocide trial of Ratko Mladic, the former Bosnian Serb general held responsible for the massacre of 8,000 Muslim men and boys at Srebrenica in 1995 — will be issued on 22 November in The Hague.

Mladic is also accused of being behind the siege of the Bosnian capital, Sarajevo, during which an estimated 10,000 civilians were killed. He has denied the charges. The prosecution has asked for a life sentence.

The Tribunal prepares to close one of the most important cases in its history, before wrapping up its work at the end of this year.

EUROVISION Special Events will offer the following facilities onsite on November 22, 2017:

• Standup position for Live programme inserts at the International tribunal
• Playout
• Connectivity to the Eurovision Global Network

UN war crimes judges will hand down a verdict against former Bosnian Serb army commander Ratko Mladic, blamed for steering Europe’s worst atrocities since World War II.

The judgement and possible sentencing before the Yugoslav war crimes court in The Hague marks the culmination of a case spanning 22 years against Mladic, once dubbed "The Butcher of Bosnia".

As the head of Bosnia’s Serb-dominated army, Mladic, 74, is accused of 11 counts including genocide, war crimes and crimes against humanity, committed in the chaotic break-up of the former Yugoslavia after the fall of communism in 1990.
