A presidential election is scheduled to take place in Russia. If no candidate attains absolute majority of the votes in the first round, a second round will take place three weeks later, on 7 April 2018. The poll was originally due on 11 March, but on 24 May the Duma voted to change the date to 18 March, to coincide with the fourth anniversary of the annexation of Crimea.
