131ST IOC SESSION AND ANNOUNCEMENT OF 2024 & 2028 OLYMPIC HOST CITIES
LIMA, PERU
11-16 SEPTEMBER 2017

The formal announcement of the host cities for the Summer Olympic Games of 2024 and 2028 will take place on 13 September in Lima, Peru, during the 131st IOC session that will last until 16 September. It will be preceded by the IOC Executive Board meeting on 11-12 September.

Paris looks set to host the 2024 Summer Olympics after rival candidate city, Los Angeles, made a deal with the IOC to host the 2028 Olympic Games.

On 11 July, a proposal to award the 2024 and 2028 Summer Games at the same time was approved by an Extraordinary IOC Session in Lausanne.

Los Angeles has held the Games twice already, in 1932 and 1984. Paris had remained insistent on hosting in 2024, on the 100th anniversary of the city's 1924 Olympics.
