IHA will be covering the 1st year anniversary of the military coup attempt that took place on 15 July 2016 in Turkey. 248 people were killed and over 1,400 wounded as the result of the coup overnight.

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan will attend a ceremony to mark the opening of a memorial for the victims which will take place on 15 July Martyrs Bridge (15 Temmuz Şehitler Köprüsü) in Istanbul. The Parliament will also hold a special session to commemorate the coup in Ankara.

15 July has been declared a national holiday, dubbed 'Democracy and National Unity Day'.
