ITALY: PM RENZI RESIGNATION
Italian Prime Minister Matteo Renzi announced on Sunday that he would present his resignation to the President of the Republic, Sergio Mattarella, on Monday after the defeat in the referendum held in Rome.
The head of the government made this announcement after acknowledging a large defeat in the referendum on a cabinet-backed constitutional reform he had proposed.

The constitutional referendum will be held in Italy on Sunday 4 December 2016. The referendum will ask voters to back the approval by parliament of Renzi’s reforms.
Matteo Renzi wants to limit the Senate in many of its legislative powers and modernize Italy’s institutional framework in order to speed-up the decision-making process. The aim is to make Italy, which has had 63 governments in the past 70 years, a more governable country.
