THE FORUM ON CHINA-AFRICA COOPERATION (FOCAC)

Leaders of 52 nations attend a summit of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC) in Johannesburg on 04-05 December, hosted by South African President Jacob Zuma.

Chinese President Xi Jinping will pay a state visit to South Africa during the summit.

FOCAC nations include Egypt, Libya, Nigeria, Somalia, Tunisia, and Zimbabwe among others.

Johannesburg, South Africa, 1-5 December 2015 The 2015 meeting of FOCAC-the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation-will be held at the Sandton Convention Centre, Johannesburg, on 4 to 5 December 2015. The summit will be preceded on Wed 2 Dec by a State visit to South Africa by the President of the People’s Republic of China, Mr Xi Jinping. President Jacob Zuma will host his counterpart to focus on economic and trade relations. A large number of agreements are due to be signed between Government, State owned and Private sector enterprises. South African President Zuma welcomed the hosting of the Summit for the first time on African soil. The focus of FOCAC will be on infrastructure development, industrialisation, job creation, technology and knowledge transfer. Zuma declared he sees the Summit as an opportunity to further harness and complement the economic potential of two of the fastest-growing regions of the world.
